Terms of use
These terms apply to Verified Local, a directory of local businesses, operated by Perpetual Media Ltd., 1108 - 250 Consumers Road #235, North York, ON M2J 4V6 (“we”). By using the site you agree to them.
The directory
Listings start from public open data, mainly the City of Toronto’s business licence data, used under the Open Government Licence – Toronto. We show that information as published by its source and do not guarantee that it is complete, current, or correct. A listing is not an endorsement. Attribution for each source is shown on the profile.
Claiming a listing
- You may claim a listing only for a business you own or are authorised to represent. You verify it with a one-time code sent to the phone number on the listing, or to an email address at the listing’s website domain.
- After verification, a claim costs a one-time payment of $49 CAD, through Stripe Checkout. It is not a subscription.
- A verified and paid claim adds a blue checkmark to the listing, lets you edit its details, and makes the listing’s website link a followed link.
- You are responsible for what you add to your listing. It must be accurate and lawful, and must not infringe anyone’s rights.
Links
Website links on listings are marked nofollow until the listing has a verified and paid claim. After that, the listing’s website link is a normal, followed link. Links to social media profiles always stay nofollow. We are not responsible for the content of other websites.
Revocation and refunds
We may revoke a claim, for example when ownership is disputed or a re-verification fails. A revoked claim loses the checkmark, editing, and the followed website link, and a later owner must verify and pay again. There is no refund when a claim is revoked. Any refund is at Perpetual Media Ltd.’s discretion, decided case by case.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the site: no automated scraping that harms the service, no attempts to access other people’s accounts or claims, and no false submissions. We may remove content or suspend access that breaks these terms.
Liability
The site is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use, and our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. We may update them; the current version is always on this page. Questions: mailto:hello@verifiedlocal.ca.
